Download free BTC tick data and analyse it in one command

Binance's public archive has daily files of every BTCUSDT perpetual trade. Here's how to read one, and a one-command report.

Why it happens

Daily aggTrades files hold every aggregated trade: price, quantity, timestamp (ms), and whether the buyer was the maker. The aggressor side is the opposite of is_buyer_maker.

Fix it with plain pandas

import pandas as pd

t = pd.read_csv("BTCUSDT-aggTrades-2026-09-30.zip")
t.index = pd.to_datetime(t["transact_time"], unit="ms", utc=True)
side = (~t["is_buyer_maker"]).map({True: "buy", False: "sell"})   # aggressor side
print(t.groupby(side)["quantity"].sum())

Or with Deptho

Or fetch 90 days of bars, funding and a full tick day, run a sample strategy, and get the report. Everything downloads from Binance to your machine:

pip install deptho
python -m deptho.demo --symbol BTCUSDT

Working with files bigger than RAM? Deptho Pro memory-maps them.
